To be at peace,
From piece to piece,

Chasing after some shadow beast—
Foreshadowed speaks and claims at least.

Yet, the only exit is release,
Of rocks and dreams whose blood is leased.

What mocks and schemes your bloodied pleas,
To find that piece just out of reach,
To find that peace or justice each
One of us, hands bloodied, seeks
Just one of us, for days, for weeks,
Seeking for the soul that speaks,
Speaking for the toll it wreaks.

To have lost the coal that fire heats,
For the cost of all the buyer heaps,
To sell for small, for nigh, for cheap.

To hell for every lie and cheat.

The bell will toll for diers weep.

But for now I’ll take my keep;
Take my bow and make it sweet;
Stake a vow and trust my feet;
Cut my teeth on my own retreat;
To breathe, exhale, be, repeat;
Succeed or fail or see defeat;
Breed in tail or tame the beast;
Feed the vale or dream at least,
Beyond the pale or piece by piece,
I have my tale, I’ll be at peace.
