WRITER’S BIO
Circus, Servant, Serving, Science, Stock, Psych and Writer: A Heavily-Edited Self-Centred Personal History
In case you wanted my life’s story
Rural Beginnings
I grew up in a big small town in rural Australia. The youngest of four kids and definitely the shyest.
I liked science, video games and cartoons, especially The Simpsons — I wrote an episode when I was 13. I think it wasn’t half bad, but it got lost when our computer died.
We didn’t have a lot of money. I had K’NEX, not LEGO.
I wanted to be a scientist, a spy, a ninja, an artist, a writer, a neuroscientist, a musician, a missionary, and probably an astronaut.
I should have been an engineer.
Circus
I didn’t play sports but I was in a circus, which was also my school.
The Flying Fruit Fly Circus School.
I trained and performed for seven years, from age 8 to 14.
I once pulled David Wenham onto the stage during a performance at the Australian Parliament House.
He’s the guy that played Faramir in Lord of the Rings.
